Notorious Monsters: NM Tuesday

Something is very odd in Vana'diel. We ran into three unclaimed NMs in one evening. It started out after our 645th Besieged (Undead Swarm). Yobun needed some help opening the Garlaige Citadel Banishing Gates so he could find a Treasure Coffer for his BST AF. Itera and I joined him, and he dual-boxed Ijin as well. As we were heading down to the basement behind Banishing Gate #1, I spotted a cockatrice up ahead. I've never seen a cockatrice in GC, so it was a bit of a surprise. Turned out to be Skewer Sam, an NM that drops a not-too-popular Wind Spear. We got a new title for it though, Beakbender, so that was fun.

Then just around the corner, Old Two-Wings was flapping about. We killed him as well, but didn't get the coveted Bat Cape.

We left Yobun behind Banishing Gate #3, with several RMTish BLMs, and Itera headed back to Whitegate, while I went to try farming Coeurl Meat in the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah (note to self, sub Thief next time). Yobun got a coffer pretty quickly, and headed out the back entrance to Sauromugue Champaign. He nearly ran straight into Roc. Thoron and Itera quickly headed from Whitegate to Sauromugue, Thoron enlisted the help of his BLM friend Shutupanddie, and I used OP warps to get back there myself. Yobun logged Ijin back in, and we all gathered to the north of Roc's plateau. Yobun charmed a raptor, sent it to fight Roc, got drawn in, but managed to make it to the cliff edge without dying.

It took us awhile to kill him, especially since he used Benediction to heal himself for nearly 14,000 HP at one point, but Ijin and I kept Thoron alive, and we defeated the giant bird. We got a vile elixir, reraiser, and crimson blade for our troubles, but again, the new title, Roc Star, was the real reward.
