Leveling: Christmas Dragoons

We've had this idea for an all-Dragoon static for a long time, and over the holidays, Elboron, Grymalkyn and Kiki geared up their level 4 Dragoons and headed out into West Sarutabaruta. It was a lot of fun running around with our Wyverns, and it didn't take very long for us to get to level 7. We wore our Dream Robe +1s, and had Selbina Milk with us, and subbed either WHM or RDM. Kiki ended up dying, but just home-pointed and ran back out to join the other two.

I'm not sure how serious this will become and whether or not we can get three more people to join us (Itera has expressed interest), but I would really like to see how far we could take an all-Dragoon group.

One thing I discovered while gearing up for our fun was that people are either too lazy/impatient to walk to Port Windurst to buy level 1 gear for really little gil, or they just are not aware of this option. I ended up tripling my money on the gear I bought from the NPCs and sold on the AH when we hit level 7 and were done (until the next time, when we'll want to be wearing leather armor anyway).

I know some career Dragoons are upset at the changes made in the recent update (Call Wyvern is no longer a two-hour abilities, but has a 20-minute cooldown), since they feel it turns their beloved wyverns into a mere tool, but I think it really does make the job a bit better. You don't have to be so careful to keep your wyvern alive for two hours at a time, since you can recall it every 20 minutes. The new Dragoon two-hour, Spirit Surge, melds you with your Wyvern, and makes it disappear, and it definitely seems to make a big difference to your damage to enemies.
