Quests: Tuning Out

On Tuesday evening, we decided to start in on the Tuning Out quest that we'd picked up from Leepe-Hoppe in Windurst. He wanted us to try to find out more about the mysterious Mithra, Shikaree Y, who had forced him to create a new type of tuning fork

First we headed to Kahzam to talk to the chieftainess, Jakoh Wahcondalo, and then to Romaa Mihgo, the former chieftainess. Ildy-Goldy kept showing up, and Romaa Mingo sent us off to "toss a pebble" into a pool at the base of Gemini Falls in Yuhtunga Jungle. Ildy-Goldy did the tossing, and a swarm of bees (Nasus) zoomed up to attack us. Elboron, Grym and I easily handled the swarm, and Ildy-Goldy showed up after they had been defeated. (We had to do the fight three times, once for each of us.) We headed back to Kazham, and Romaa Mihgo said we should go talk to Kumai in Norg, but warned us we'd need to bring some food with us as a bribe to actually get into see him.

One of the items was a bunch Habaneros Peppers, which are an exclusive drop off of Mantraps in Misereaux Coast. So we headed there and spent about 90 minutes getting the 3 that we needed.

The next evening, we bought some Mutton Tortillas in Windust, and a couple servings of Black Curry from the AH in Jeuno (and took one from Kiki's supply), and headed off to Norg. Kumai was pleased with the spicy food we'd brought him, and told us about a Mithra's interest in finding a place of power deep in Uleguerand Range, and we set off to Beaucedine Glacier to see if the Tarutarus from the Windurst Rhinostery had any more information.

All of this running around seems to have been just a test of our mettle, and Ildy-Goldy rewarded us with 6000 gil (which prompted one of the Tarus to exclaim "You can get a nice helmet with that!" - I guess prices have gone up a lot since he last visited Jeuno), and when we reported back to Leepe-Hoppe in Windurst, he gave us a Cache-Nez for our troubles. It's a really nice item for a young tank, being level 1 with +2 Enmity, but I'm not sure I really have any use for it at this point, and will probably just sell it.

I really enjoy the stories that you get from these Chains of Promathia quests, but they really do make you run all over the map to complete them, often for little reward aside from the story.

New Title: Friend of the Helmed
