Beastmasters: Gaudy Harnesses are Go!

With another holiday weekend, it was time to take our BSTs out for some leveling. People weren't going to be around much, and our visit with the Snoll Tzar was put off for another week. We headed back to the Labyrinth of Onzozo as level 48s, and felt like it was pretty quick getting to level 49. I think the Empress Bands really help speed things along. After a safe buffer, we decided it was time to find a new camp. Since we were in the Windurst area, we thought we'd try the Horutoto end of the Toraimarai Canal. This wasn't such a good idea (we thought our aggro'ing pets were far enough from their "home" that they'd despawn). There went some of our buffer.

After homepointing to Whitegate, we decided to check out the beetles in West Altepa, since there didn't seem to be any parties out there. It looked pretty promising, until we spotted an IT+ giant bird and said "let's do it!". Unfortunately, he did us instead, and we completely lost our buffer, and dropped back to 48.

Next, we decided to see what the old coeurl vs. goblin "camp" in Yhoator at one of the zones to Ifrit's Cauldron looked like. From chocobo back, it didn't look very promising, so we left it and decided to go try Goblin Pets in Gustav Tunnel. This was the easiest exp in the game until one of the Goblin Shepards noticed Grym taking his pet away. I had my pet fight the leech, while Grym's took the goblin, and we hit /logout. Unfortunately, Grym didn't make it in time, and ended up homepointing. She made her way back to Gustav, and we killed easier things until we got her caught back up to me (I kept my pets for the exp cut).

We logged out for the night just outside Gustav, and when we logged back in the next morning, we decided to run over to Crawlers Nest and see how that would work. The "doughnut" room in the basement didn't have enough pets since there was an exp party there killing all of the soldier crawlers, so we headed up to the lizard rooms. There were no lizard farmers, and this turned out to be a really nice spot for us, and we soon hit 50. Finally, we could wear our Gaudy Harnesses that we got so very long ago. And we could start questing our fuzzy AF! Hurray!

We ended up doing the cookbook quest for last week as our BST50s. After getting our cookbook page, we decided to kill some of the skeletons, using Gazers as pets, hoping for a chest key. Unfortunately, a Stegotaur respawned on top of us as we were in the middle of swapping pets, and we decided to run away like scared babies, mostly because I was so startled by it suddenly looming over me.
