Events: Starlight Celebration
This year's mid-winter festival, the Starlight Celebration, had a few things similiar to last year's: giving present to children would allow you to make use of a city-to-city teleport server, you could trade 10 fireworks for outpost tleports (and avoid the normal level cap on the service), and you could get a Dream Hat +1 (makes 1 to 10 ginger cookies every 24 hours) by having high gift "fame" and a holiday tree in your moghouse.
New for this year were Dream Robes, and Dream Robe +1s. Event moogles would give you a greeting card, which was addressed to a person with a particular job in a particular level range, like Ranger 10s, or Paladin 60s. Each card had 4 in a series, and if a person with the appropriate job/level traded the card back to the moogle, it would continue on, with the 4th trade resulting in a rare/ex robe for the trader.
After a lot of trial and error, we figured out that for the 4th trade, the card would turn into a card that was appropriate for the person who got the original card (or a 10s level job if they had a job sub-10 at the time). We tested this theory with a card that Quiznos had picked up as a WAR7, and we had managed to have the first three requested jobs between Grym, Kiki, and Elboron. When the card ended up being for a WAR 10s, we decided Elboron should level his WAR to 10 and try it. He soloed to 7, then Grym and Kiki joined him with their RDM7 and RNG7 and they got their jobs to 10.
Sure enough, when Elboron handed in the card as a WAR10, he got his Dream Robe. Kiki had got one just randomly trading cards with people in Windurst a couple days earlier, but now that we figured out the pattern, we knew what we had to do for our Dream Robe +1s, as well as Grym's Dream Robe. We spent a lot of time trading cards with the moogles, getting strangers to trade cards for us, helping strangers with their card trades, having our mules run around getting and trading cards, and we finally ended up with our Dream Robe +1s. For these, the cards had to be obtained by and traded by people wearing their Dream Robes. If the cycle was broken and the card started out without a Dream Robe wearer, or someone along the line didn't wear a Dream Robe while trading, the 4th trade resulted in Rare/Ex Chocopasses (which aren't as useful as Chocobo Tickets).
The Dream Robe +1 is described as "Enhances the effect of Selbina Milk". Anastasia and Kiki tested this out, and we learned that this enhancement gets you an extra 8HP out of a bottle of milk. I suppose this is useful for the baby levels (and our all-Dragoon trio used their Dream Robe +1s to get from 4 to 7), but other than that, they just look festive for the holidays.
One other "benefit" is that if you call your NPC buddy while wearing your Dream Coat +1, he or she will appear in their own robe and hat.
